Monday 24th March - Worksop Town 1-1 Frickley Athletic
The Blues bounced back from Good Friday's defeat to Ossett Town to take a point from an evenly contested match at Worksop Town this afternoon. Lee Morris gave the Blues a ninth minute lead but Kevin Sanasy equalised just before half time. The Blues had slightly the better of the chances but were unable to capitalise a second time.
Morris put the Blues ahead after just nine minutes when Chris White's right wing corner was half cleared as far as Jonathan Grome who headed forwards for Morris to fire the ball past Steve Hernandez from 6 yards. White then sent Neil Towler away down the left of the box but as he cut in towards goal Andrew Boyce blocked his angled shot for a corner. The home side had their first sight of goal after 20 minutes when Andy White dispossessed Dean Jones just outside the box but Jon Hood parried White's 18 yard shot. Towler went close with a header which drifted just wide following a Chris White cross before Worksop gained an unlikely equaliser. Sanasy got goal side of Phil Lindley and lobbed the ball over the advancing Hood a minute before half time. The Blues then lost Groome through injury with Chris Davies replacing him.
Disaster almost struck within two minutes of the second half kicking off when Sanasy found himself in acres of space at the near post following a cross from the right. However, Hood did brilliantly to block Sanasy's angled shot from 6 yards. Just before the hour mark Morris latched onto a poor defensive header from Boyce to fire in an angled shot from 15 yards which Hernandez parried. Unfortunately, Morris suffered a knee injury in the move and was replaced by Rob Pell. On 74 minutes Pell robbed a defender on half -way before playing the ball over the top of the defence for Towler but his angled shot from 15 yards flew over the bar. Two minutes later Towler was clear down the middle but, under pressure, he pushed the ball too far allowing Hernandez to smother the ball at his feet. As the game entered stoppage time Towler held the ball up well on the edge of the box before feeding White but his first time shot flew wide of the left hand post.
