Saturday 18th February - Frickley Athletic 0-4 Stocksbridge Park Steels This match is available on DVD/Video - See Club Shop A weakened Blues side were comfortably beaten by Stocksbridge Park Steels in tonight's Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup Quarter Final, with Andy Ring scoring a hat-trick into the bargain. The only real encouragement for the Blues was Ritchie Butler making his first appearance since suffering serious injury in the home clash with Prescot Cables in September. He lasted an hour before being replaced by Lee Stratford. With Butler starting at left full-back Neil Ashley partnered Lee Pugh in midfield with Simon Collins dropping to the bench. Sean Gummer got his first start on the right wing in place of Alex Callery whilst James Stansfield started in place of Steve Kennedy and Richard Tracey replaced Rob Pell. The Blues got off to the worst possible start when a defensive mix-up let in Ring to open the scoring after just 4 minutes. The Blues has a couple of let-offs but offered very little threat up front until early in the second half but Ring's second goal on 65 minutes effectively killed the game with Ben Walker adding a third on 68 minutes when a cruel deflection saw his weak effort spin passed Gary Ingham and just inside the far post. Ring completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot on 86 minutes.
