Tuesday 3rd October - Frickley Athletic 0-1 Stalybridge Celtic Caretaker Manager Simon Collins was forced to shuffle his side for this FA Cup sponsored by E.ON replay following following injuries to Lee Stratford, Danny Walsh and Richard Tracey. Adam Pollock came in at right back with Scott Turner getting his first start for the senior side and Neil Ashley returned after suspension. The Blues started the game well and were a little unfortunate not to take the lead in the opening minutes when Turner blocked a clearance by Paul Pettinger but his goalbound shot was blocked. Stalybridge took the lead when Mark Hume headed in a corner when unmarked after 28 minutes. The rather physical Celtic side enjoyed longer periods of pressure than they did on Saturday and Gary Ingham was called on to make several fine saves. As the game wore on Collins put on all three substitutes and threw men forward but apart from a good good move involving Rob Pell and Alex Callery which finished with Callery's shot being comfortably saved, the Blues struggled to really trouble Pettinger's goal. Claims for a penalty were waved away five minutes from time when Mark Ward appeared to be dragged back inside the box as he tried to latch onto a long clearance.
