Saturday 4th November - Frickley Athletic 1-1 Prescot Cables The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Prescot Cables in a game in which play deteriorated as the match went on. The Blues started well but were unable to make the breakthrough until Rob Pell fired in a low 25 yard free-kick on 70 minutes. Karl Bell bundled in an equaliser for Prescot 7 minutes later. Billy Heath was without the services of the injured Paul Palmer which resulted in Mark Ward being brought back into the starting line-up whilst Paul Rickers started on the left of midfield in place of the departing Alex Callery The Blues started the game positively, winning a number of early corners but clear chances were at a premium although Prescot rarely troubled Jon Hood's goal throughout the first half. The second half saw Prescot come into the game more but the game started to become a scrappy affair. PELL put the Blues ahead on 70 minutes when he blasted a low 25 yards free-kick into the bottom left hand corner of the net. Minutes later Ward hit a strong 20 yard volley which forced Ryan McMahon into an acrobatic save to tip the ball past the post. It looked as if the solitary goal would be enough to settle the game but Prescot scored an equaliser 7 minutes later when a speculative shot from 30 yards by Adam Flynn kicked up in front of Hood, causing him to block the ball with his chest but Carl Rendell picked up the loose ball to drive it across the face of goal where Bell bundled the ball in from almost on the line.
