Tuesday 11th October - Ossett Town  2-4  Frickley Athletic

After going behind to a 7th minute striker from David Briggs the Blues rattled in 3 goals in 10 minutes from Martyn Woolford (2) and Alex Callery just prior to half time to assume a commanding lead at the break. Although Ossett pulled a goal back through a Matt Daly own goal Woolford completed his hat-trick to earn the Blues a deserved win which moved them up to second place in the table.

Gary Marrow made two changes to the starting line-up, bringing Matt Daly back into the defence after his suspension whilst Ashley Scothern was considered fit enough to partner Andy Evans up front.

The Blues started the match well and went close after just 2 minutes when Callery's free-kick from the right was helped on by Scothern but the ball flew straight into 'keeper Neil Bennett's hands. However, Ossett took the lead just 5 minutes later when a 22 yard free-kick from Luke Staton somehow found its way through the defensive wall and gary Ingham could only parry the ball into the path of David Briggs who followed up to score. The Blues were undaunted and went close minutes later but Woolford headed Lee Pugh's cross just wide of the post. At the other end Ossett threatend again following another Staton free-kick which took a slight deflection off Daly but Ingham was alert to smother. The Blues equalised on 35 minutes when Evans flicked the ball on for Scothern to race away down the right. He played the ball inside for Callery who burst into the box before finding WOOLFORD at the near post who side-footed the ball home. Two minutes later the Blues took the lead when Calum Selby's right wing corner found its way to WOOLFORD whose header from 6 yards crossed the line before a defender managed to hook the ball clear. The Blues were now totally dominant and, as the game entered stoppage time, Scothern flicked the ball on to CALLERY who beat Bennett with and angled shot from 15 yards.

The home side came close to pulling a goal back on 53 minutes as leading goalscorer James Walshaw found himself clear down the left but Ingham touched Walshaw's shot passed the post. However, Ossett reduced the defecit 2 minutes later when a cross from the right came off the head of Daly and looped over the stranded Ingham, who had come to claim the cross, and landed in the net. The Blues soon restored their two goal lead as on 77 minutes Woolford picked up a loose ball in midfield to play the ball forward to Evans just inside the Ossett half. He intelligently switched play to the left hand side where Scothern broke clear before sending over a great cross which eluded former Frickley player Steve Price and fell to WOOLFORD who fired past Bennett from 12 yards. The Blues came close to extending their lead on 86 minutes as Pugh played a clever ball between 2 defenders for Callery to burst into the box and fire in a low 15 yard shot which Bennett did well to turn around the post for a corner. Selby's flag-kick was played short to Pugh on the edge of the box who fired in a low shot which Woolford directed just past the post from 6 yards with Bennett stranded.
