Saturday 30th April - Marine  1-1  Frickley Athletic

Gary Marrow achieved his first objective after returning as the Blues' boss as Frickley came from behind to earn a point at Marine thanks to Lee Pugh's 75th minute equaliser.

Marrow was without both Steve Woolford and Ashley Scothern who were both unavailable due to work commitments whilst Leroy Chambers was struggling with an ankle injury and was only fit enough for a place on the bench, alongside Wael Nazha. This enabled Phil Lindley to return to the side in midfield whilst Richard Tracey and Adam both started up front with Andy Evans.

The Blues got off to the worst possible start as Marine took the lead with only 10 minutes gone as Paul McNally headed in at the far post from a right wing cross. Two minutes later it could have been even worse as Steve Robinson was forced to head off the line. However, the Blues gradually settled and were desperately unlucky not to equalise on 23 minutes when Pugh's right wing corner was met by a terrific low volley from the edge of the box by Simon Collins. Unfortunately, the ball struck a defender on the line and bounced to safety. Collins was unlucky again minutes later when his well-timed run to meet a Calum Selby free-kick saw his clear in the box but he couldn't quite reach to head the ball. Richard Tracey was fouled just outside the box on 34 minutes and Collins stepped up to fire in a low 20 yard free-kick which went through the wall but was cleared off the line by a defender who had stood on the post. Just before half time Ingham kept the Blues in the game when he pushed an angled drive from Dean Thurston into the side netting.

Just after half time Marrow opted to replace Russell with Nazha and the Blues had a chance to draw level 10 minutes later. Evans' flick found Collins who immediately released Pugh down the right. Pugh beat Lee Mullin before cutting into the box but, as space opened up in front of him to leave a clear sight of goal he opted to square the ball to Collins who shot just wide of the right hand post. On 67 minutes Pugh again beat Mullin and cut inside but this time he opted to shoot although his curling left-foot effort cleared the bar by about a foot. Tracey then played a great ball forward which saw Nazha and Evans both clear with only 'keeper Stuart ahead of them but Nazha took too long to control the ball and the chance was gone. However, on 75 minutes, Robinson played the ball inside Mullin on the right for PUGH who again cut into the box but this time he took the ball on and drilled a low shot past Stuart for the equaliser. The Blues were now looking the side more likely to win the game and they went close on 78 minutes when substitute Dean Foley retrieved an over-hit corner with an overhead kick from the right of the goal which McNally back-headed just wide of his own goal.

In the end, the point was sufficient to guarantee UniBond Premier Division football again next season when Gary Marrow will be looking to improve the side and have a greatly improved campaign.
