Saturday 19th July - Frickley Athletic 1-0 Lincoln City

Frickley managed to overcome a Lincoln City side which included several first team squad members 1-0 courtesy of a 67th minute goal from triallist Stuart Preston. Lincoln had started the game stronger and forced a number of early corners but none of them seriously troubled 'keeper Mark Samways. The Blues' first attempt at goal came on the half hour when Mark Lafftery's low 18 yard shot was well saved by Darren Horrigan. Lincoln missed a good chance to take the lead on 42 minutes when Dean Cropper headed against the bar following a right wing cross.

The second half saw Lincoln again go close on 60 minutes but the Blues managed to scramble the effort off the line. Four minutes later substitute Mark hancock fired just over the bar following some good build-up play started by Steve Robinson. Three minutes later fellow-substitute Preston chased a long ball as former Worksop and Sunderland goalkeeper Jon Kennedy came out to meet it but he got in a mix-up with defender Dave Whattley, leaving PRESTON an empty net to fire into. Shortly afterwards another good move led to Preston knocking the ball into the path of Duncan Richards but his strong 18 yard shot was well saved by Kennedy.
