Monday 9th April - Lincoln United 1-1 Frickley Athletic

An 87th minute header from Adam Pollock earned the Blues a deserved point from their trip to Lincoln United this afternoon. The Blues had squandered several good chances before Lincoln took the lead against the run of play in the 43rd minute. This goal looked to be enough to overcome a depleted Blues side before Pollock struck.

With Steve Oleksewycz unable to make his second Blues' debut due to illness and Steve Robinson suspended Billy Heath was boosted by Danny Walsh declaring himself fit to play whilst Calum Selby and Steve Heath both played despite carrying knocks.

Grit and determination were rewarded with a deserved Unibond Premier Division point when Frickley visited Lincoln on Monday although they left it late to equalise.
Despite still carrying an injury, Danny Walsh turned out again and was appointed skipper, inspiring the rest of the side with his enthusiasm and will.
A through ball was snapped up by Sam Mullarkey in the 11th minute but he lost control of the ball as he tried to push it past the oncoming Jon Hood before they collided.
Referee C Akers booked the Blues keeper and awarded a free-kick two yards outside the area, which Gary Walters curled wide of the near post.
Lee Morris had a shot saved by keeper Mariano Ziccardi's legs in the 14th minute, while a corner kick by Calum Selby three minutes later saw Steve Heath have a header blocked and Paul Palmer's effort from the rebound was cleared off the line.
An angled 20 yard drive from Scott Turner rattled the far post in the 25th minute, but United responded, Jon Hawley having a 25 yard drive well held by Hood four minutes later.
The home side went ahead in the 43rd minute, Mullarkey knocking a ball in from the left and Giovanni Carchedi put a first time 10 yard volley into the net.
On the stroke of half-time, Steven Heath appeared to be pulled as he went up for a Selby free-kick but appeals for a penaly fell on deaf ears, while Hood got down quickly to block an effort from Carchedi at the other end.
Hood tipped an effort from Mullarkey over the top in the 47th minute and then punched away the resultant corner kick, but Frickley started to get more into exchanges although they had to be alert to the rapid counter attack.
A long throw from Carl Wood in the 70th minute was only half cleared and Walsh lashed a 25 yarder just over the top, and Hood did well to turn a free-kick by Jason Minett over four minutes later.
Carchedi took a 30 yard free-kick in the 82nd minute which deflected off a visiting defender before flashing the wrong side of the far post.
The Blues increased the tempo with Walsh have a brace of shots blocked before they forced a corner in the 88th minute, Morris floating over a cross to an unmarked Adam Pollock who picked his spot with a ten yard header.
