Saturday 27th August - Frickley Athletic  2-1  Leek Town

Ashley Scothern's two goals saw the Blues come from a goal down to defeat Leek Town in a hard fought game at the Millennium Worldwide Stadium this afternoon. The win sees the Blues move up to fourth place in the table after three games.

Manager Gary Marrow kept faith with the same side that beat Whitby so comprehensively on Tuesday evening and, even though the Blues didn't quite reach the same high standard of play that they did 4 days earlier, they still came out on top in a keenly contested game.

The visitors took the lead with 19 minutes gone when Dave McPherson drove a low shot into the net from 12 yards following a good cross from the left.

However, the Blues equalised on 34 minutes when SCOTHERN headed Alex Callery's free-kick from the right into the roof of the net.

The winner came on 76 minutes when substitute Andy Evans did well down the right before advancing to the edge of the box and letting fly with a low shot which Leek 'keeper Rob Hackney couldn't hold and SCOTHERN followed up to knock in the rebound.
