Saturday 18th August - Hednesford Town 3-0 Frickley Athletic

The jinx which seems to plague Frickley's opening League games struck again at Hednesford where the Blues were still involved until losing central defender Steve Heath through injury. Billy Heath was forced to field a make-shift defence with Adam Deakin and Dean Jones injured, Steve Robinson and Ross Haywood suspended and Chris Gowen unavailable.
A 22 yard free-kick by Richard Tracey flashed just wide of the target in the fifth minute as the visitors made a lively start, while a good run from Danny Walsh six minutes later took him into the Town penalty area where he laid the ball back for Nathan Hotte to shave the bar with a first time shot.
Hednesford were also dangerous, Peter Knox turning on the edge of the penalty area in the 16th minute but firing straight at Frickley keeper Jon Hood who comfortably held the shot.
A break from midfield two minutes later led to the ball being played out wide to Ross Dyer, but his curling cross was cleared by Chris Hilton.
The Blues defence were found wanting in the 21st minute when Dyer got down the left and whipped a ball over for Simon Forsdick to strike at the far post.
Dyer was causing the visiting cover problems and he cut in from the left in the 31st minute but fired straight at Hood.
Hotte picked out Lee Morris in the 56th minute, but his shot zipped inches wide of the far post, and Frickley lost Heath eight minutes later, Craig Laight coming on.
Before the visitors had time to settle, Hednesford improved their lead in the 66th minute, Knox creating space on the right before crossing for Simon Forsdick to volley in at the far post.
Frickley refused to give in, and a scorching 25 yard drive from Morris was pushed round a post by home goalkeeper Rene Kilmartin in the 76th minute.
Ross Dyer headed in Hednesford's third goal after a right wing cross in the 78th minute to put the result beyond doubt.
