Saturday 10th December - Guiseley 2-0 Frickley Athletic

The Blues suffered their second successive 2-0 defeat as they went down at Yorkshire neighbours Guiseley who moved into 7th place in the table following the win.

Gary Marrow was forced to reshuffle his side with Nicky Heinemann suspended whilst Simon Collins reported ill and Matt Daly was still not fit. The returning Richard Tracey came in at right back with Steve Robinson moving into midfield whilst Phil Lindley and Calum Selby filled the voids at centre half and left back. Lee Morris and Rob Pell formed the forward line with Leroy Chambers being left out altogether.

The Blues got off to the worst possible start when a cross from the Guiseley right was inadvertently turned past his own keeper by the outstretched leg of Steve Kennedy after just 5 minutes. The Blues responded with Morris meeting Pell's cross from the left with a header at the near post but the ball flew straight into the arms of Matt Taylor. Morris had a good chance on 21 minutes when Pell sent him racing clear but Taylor did well to deny him from 15 yards out. Five minutes later the Blues had a let-off when Tracey cleared Danny Ellis' header off the line following a corner. The impressive Pell turned and fired in a low shot which Taylor was thankful to see fly straight at him on the half hour whilst minutes later Martyn Woolford did well down the left before cutting into the box but his right foot shot just cleared the bar.

Fourteen minutes into the second half and Marrow decided to make a change, bringing on Ryan Golden for Tracey. Robinson then dropped back into the defence with Woolford moving to the right and Callery moving inside. Almost immediately Pell did well down the right before picking out Callery in space inside the box but he took too long to control the ball, allowing the Guiseley defence to close him down before he could get his shot in. Shortly afterwards more good work from Pell saw him play the ball in from the right towards Morris at the near post but Taylor got enough on the ball to send it squirming across the 6 yard box where Golden looked odds-on to fire the ball into the empty net but Taylor recovered brilliantly to bravely dive at Golden's feet to block his effort. On 75 minutes a break down the Guiseley left saw Simon Parke beat Robsinson and pick out Mark Stuart who beat Gary Ingham to notch Guiseley's second which killed the game off.
