Tuesday 30th October - Frickley Athletic 0-6 Brodsworth MW

After a goalless first half, Frickley were sunk by a sharpshooting Brodsworth in this friendly which will have manager Mark Hancock pondering over the coming FA Trophy tie.

To be fair to the Blues, they had a trialist goalkeeper who, after looking reasonably comfortable up to the break, went to pieces a minute after the resumption and was largely responsible for the side's downfall.

Hancock used the experience of Dean Jones, Chris Gowen, Danny Walsh and Richard Treacy, to mould together some his younger players into a promising combination which brought the best out of the visiting defence.

Ryan Morton, after having a corner kick cleared from under the bar in the 13th minute, whipped the ball back in but saw it headed to safety, and Ashley Vickers collected a through ball from Jones eight minutes later and lashed a 35 yarder just over the target.

A break down the left by Vinny Dawson in the 33rd minute led to him picking out Morton whose shot clipped the top of the bar, and Gowen found Treacy with a throw-in and he struck a 25 yarder which keeper Jamie Allen managed to smother at the second attempt in the 43rd minute.

In the first minute after the resumption, when the Blues were looking to take control, Robert Sanderson intercepted a back pass and found Trevor Hindson who fired Brodsworth in front from 15 yards.

Worse was to follow, the home keeper mishitting a clearance straight at Hindson in the 53rd minute and he put it back into an open net, while Gareth Collinson made it three with a close range effort three minutes later.

Frickley tried to come more into exchanges but it was one of those nights when everything Brodsworth did came off, Hindson completing his hat trick in the 66th minute after another interception.

Chris White twice fired over from good positions before Paul Bradley was on target for Welfare in the 77th minute, Steve Robinson putting an angled 40 yard shot on the roof of the net two minutes later as the Blues tried to salvage a goal.

Their suffering continued in the 83rd minute, Bradley running onto a through ball from Jonathan Groom and stroking the ball into the net.
