Tuesday 9th March - Brodsworth Welfare 1-3 Frickley Athletic

Phil Sharpe brought Jon Hood in to play in goal in place of Marc Shackleton, whilst Chris Fawcus was cup-tied and Mark Vickerage has suffered a broken foot whilst playing on Sunday, with Dale Rimmington and Remo Nesa coming into the squad.

The Blues went close in the opening ten minutes when Lee Pugh and Lee Morris exchanged passes for Pugh to shoot straight at the Home keeper from just inside the box. The Blues enjoyed a lot of possession for much of the first half but without really troubling the Brodsworth goal, although the home side broke away on a couple of occasions, forcing Hood to race out of his goal to clear. On 39 minutes Michael Blythen's right wing cross fell to Steve Robinson who turned and shot over the bar from 12 yards. Three minutes later the Blues took the lead. A corner was half cleared to Robinson, who played the ball out to Dominique Krief, whose first time pass sent Gary Hatto clear down the left and his cross was headed in by MORRIS at the far post.

The home side had a let-off within two minutes of the restart when centre half Marling was pressure by Blythen and pushed the ball past his own keeper but he recovered enough to hack the ball clear. The Blues were starting to control the game and it seemed just a matter of time before they extended their lad, with Dan Sheriffe being unfortunate when he just failed to connect with Blythen's header down from a Krief free-kick. Robinson then had a 20 yard shot well held before the inevitable happened and Brodsworth broke away for David Clarkson to find himself clear to plant the ball into the net past Hood on 65 minutes. The Blues retook the lead on 82 minutes when Richardson flicked the ball into the path of Pugh down the right and his cross was headed in at the far post by MORRIS from almost on the line. Five minutes later Nesa was fouled some 20 yards out and MORRIS stepped up to score from the free-kick.
