John Charlton made one change to the side which won at Bamber Bridge on Saturday. Ian Dixon was relegated to the substitutes bench to make way for Gary Innes now recovered from injury. Blyth were out to avenge their defeat in the away fixture three weeks ago when a dreadful Blyth performance contributed to a 4-2 win for the Yorkshire side.
Blyth started poorly and it was the visitors who were on the offensive from the start. Pacy striker Leroy Chambers had a chance on only four minutes but he put his shot over the bar with only Burke to beat. Chambers, who scored a hat-trick in the corresponding fixture at Frickley, was causing problems for the Blyth defence but his cross on 12 minutes was deflected out for a corner by Mark Dunkerley.
Against the run of play Blyth took the lead with almost their first foray up field. Stewart's cross from the left found Perry on the far edge of the penalty area. The striker brought the ball down, looked up and chipped it over the keeper and into the back of the net to put Blyth 1-0 up on 17 minutes.
Frickley were immediately on the attack again in an attempt to level the scores. Hanby's shot from the edge of the area was deflected out for a corner but Burke dealt easily with the incoming cross.
On 20 minutes the visitors were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the "D". Beckett's shot over the wall was going in just under the bar when Burke got a hand to it and tipped it away for a corner.
Blyth were under pressure but Frickley seemed unable to take their chances as once again Chambers created space for himself but shot over the bar. On the half hour Terry Burke did well to block at the feet of Chambers after a cross from Duffty.
Blyth had more of the play in the second half although in the early period of the half it was mistakes in the Frickley defence which almost let in Blyth to score. Firstly Perry had a chance but the ball was scrambled out for a corner. Then a mix up between Stratford and goalkeeper Wilkinson allowed substitute Radigan to nip in and collect. He attempted to chip Wilkinson but the keeper held the ball well.
The ball was immediately played down the left wing to Duffty but he put his shot past the post.
As the visitors tired Blyth were coming more into the game and Radigan was causing problems down the right. His cross on 65 minutes found the head of Robson ten yards out but the striker's attempt was straight into the hands of Wilkinson.
Blyth should have done better on 73 minutes when Radigan played the ball forward to Perry and he beat his man to centre the ball to Carl Pepper. However, the midfielder screwed his shot wide of the far post when Glen Robson was standing in space waiting for a pass.
A minute later Blyth increased their lead with another well taken goal from Perry. A long ball was played forward to Radigan who chipped it over the defence to Perry who'd beat the offside trap. He then calmly stroked the ball past Wilkinson and into the net.
With only six minutes of the game remaining two Blyth substitutes combined to get the third and final goal. After appearing to lose the ball Andy Hay did well to recover and cross from the left into the centre of the box where Radigan was waiting to head into the roof of the net.
Even after this Blyth could have increased their lead particularly with a Paddy Little free-kick which he blasted past the wall only for Wilkinson to parry it out for the defence to clear.
