Tuesday 27th July - Belper Town 0-0 Frickley Athletic

The Blues travelled to UniBond First Division side Belper Town for their sixth pre-season game but despite creating several good goalscoring chances they failed to take any of them and were forced to settle for a goalless draw. 

With only 2 minutes on the clock Mark Vickerage headed Nathan Hood’s left wing cross narrowly wide but 8 minutes later Belper's Anthony Danylyk sidefooted a good chance wide of the post. Sixty second later Marc Shackleton did well to block at the feet of the advancing Ben Walker who beat Phil Lindley to break into the box. On 25 minutes Wayne Benn's left sided free-kick was dropped at the far post by substitute goalkeeper Richard Froggatt but Antony Jackson couldn't scramble the ball in. Stefan Zoll shot tamely at the keeper after 37 minutes after seizing on a strong headed clearannce by Jackson and Troy Bennett saw his 25 yard free-kick parried by home keeper Richard Froggatt before half time. 

The second half saw the Blues dictate much of the play without ever really looking like conceding a goal at the back. Seven minutes after the break Zoll burst clear of the last defender before dragging his 18 yard shot wide and soon afterwards saw his 18 yard shot comfortably saved by Froggatt. On 72 minutes Remo Nesa headed inches wide of an upright from a Graham Severn Cross whilst on 76 minutes Belper's David Kettle put a 25 yard free-kick over the bar.
