Saturday 4th August - Frickley Athletic 3-2 Barton Town Old Boys

Once again Frickley had to come from behind but were worthy of their success in an entertaining friendly with Barton.
A free-kick from Danny Walsh was headed down by Lee Morris in the 15th minute and Danny Davidson's first time shot was just turned behind by Town keeper Tom Nick, while Dean Jones had a 30 yarder well held by Nick after a free-kick from Scott Turner was only half cleared.
Barton broke the deadlock in the 38th minute, skipper Sam Sharman linking up with his attack and playing a slick one-two with Craig Burdick before beating Jon Hood with a low 20 yard drive.
On the stroke of half-time, Carl Wood played a neat one-two with Morris, but saw Nick smother his shot.
The Blues turned the tables with a double strike inside five minutes, the equaliser coming in the 53rd minute when Ryan Morton, who had only just come on, crossed from the left for Morris to collect and drill in a shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Walsh went close with a 35 yard drive and Morton put a 40 yard cross onto the roof of the net before Frickley went in front after 58 minutes, Ross Haywood floating in a free-kick and Dean Jones producing a superb glancing header to hit the target from 15 yards.
Both sides rang the changes, and there was a narrow escape for the Unibond Premier side in the 68th minute, Adam Nicklin parrying a shot from Burdick but the rebound fell to Gary Dickinson whose shot was turned off the line by Craig Laight.
The persistence of Lee Morris produced Frickley's third goal in the 72nd minute as he charged a clearance from Nick and the ball struck his body and rebounded into the net.
Dickinson put a 35 yard lob onto the roof of the net for the visitors before Burdick reduced the arrears with a 35 yard blockbuster in the 76th minute.
The Blues were determined not to lose their advantage, Arran Allanson and Davidson both going close with long range efforts before Nick got down quickly to smother another powerful header by Jones after 82 minutes.
