Thursday 24th July - Frickley Athletic 5-0 Armthorpe Welfare Armthorpe Welfare kindly stood in at the last minute for tonight's pre-season
friendly following Ossett Town cancelling last last night. Starting with a
strong line-up the Blues took 25 minutes to open their account when REMO NESA
received a short free-kick to send a cracking Just minutes after coming on Ryan Till beat 2 men inside the box before shooting across the face of goal whilst on 51 minutes the visitors had their first sight of the Blues' goal but Mark Samways was equal to the 20 yard drive. On 54 minutes substitute Stuart Preston broke into the box before being brought down and a penalty was instantly awarded. Kieran O'Brien stepped up to take the kick but his shot was blocked by the keeper who also blocked Terry Taylor's follow-up shot. However, 2 minutes later Mark Lafferty was fouled on the edge of the box and GARY HATTO stepped up to plant a quick free-kick into the net. On 74 minutes a through ball found triallist ROB WARD from Ossett Albion break free and he made no mistake to score from 15 yards. MARK HANCOCK wrapped the scores up 5 minutes from time when he intercepted a poor clearance from the Welfare Keeper to instantly place the ball past the stranded keeper into the net.
