Saturday 6th August - Armthorpe Welfare  1-4  Frickley Athletic

A largely inexperienced Blues side came from a goal behind to at half time to comfortably defeat Armthorpe Welfare.

The home side took the lead after just 11 minutes when an excellent chip from 18 yards looped over Gary Ingham and into the top left hand corner of the net.

The nearest the Blues came to equalising in the first half was on 21 minutes when Simon Collins headed Calum Selby's  right wing corner just wide of the far post with the keeper stranded

However, just 7 minutes into the second half a ball over the defence from Selby saw Richard Tracey race clear but he was clearly pulled back as he bore down on goal with the referee immediately awarding the penalty. COLLINS stepped up to sidefoot the spot-kick into the bottom left hand corner.

The Blues took the lead on 66 minutes when ASHLEY SCOTHERN met Selby's free-kick from the left with a glancing header which went in off the far post.

Three minutes later it was 3-1 as SCOTHERN seized on a defence splitting pass to fire past the home 'keeper and into the bottom right hand corner from the edge of the box.

TRACEY sealed the win on 74 minutes when he met Selby's left wing cross at the far post with a header which the defender on the line could only help into the roof of the net.
