FRICKLEY ATHLETIC 1-3 ACCRINGTON STANLEY

The Blues suffered their fourth consecutive home defeat as Stanley snatched two late goals to take all three points. The Blues had deservedly drawn level after seeing the visitors take the lead with only 36 seconds on the clock and looked set to earn at least a point.

Steve Richards kept faith with the side which played so well at Worksop on Tuesday evening but Frickley got off to a disastrous start as the visitors scored almost immediately with Lutel James threading a ball through the Blues defence into the path of Steve Flitcroft who fired into the roof of the net from 6 yards. Soner Zumrutel came close to netting an equaliser on 5 minutes after Simon Collins had picked out Graham Lewis on the left who beat fought off a challenge and sent over a cross which was deflected by a defender into the path of Zumrutel who whipped a first time volley narrowly over the bar from 10 yards. Five minutes later Andy Evans beat the Stanley offside trap as he ran on to a long ball from Steve Price but as he waited for the ball to drop the Stanley keeper Jamie Speare came out and challenged him with the loose ball falling to Lewis but his shot from 30 yards was blocked by a covering defender. At the other end Mark Wilkinson was forced to save with his feet as a deep free-kick somehow found its way through the defence on 19 minutes and a minute later Wilkinson was called on to palm a free-kick by Cavanagh round the post after Brennan made a meal of a challenge by Mark Ogley. Shortly afterwards Williams tested Wilkinson with a long range effort but he was equal to it and Baxter shot across the face of goal before Price cleared the danger. The latter stages of the half saw the Blues win numerous corners but all were comfortably dealt with by the Stanley defence.

Two minutes after half time Lewis shrugged off an illegal challenge down the right and started to cut in towards goal but the referee pulled play back to award the free-kick in an incident similar to the one at Worksop on Tuesday when Simon Collins was clear in the box but the referee brought play back for a free-kick. Price then put a 22 yard free-kick inches over the bar as he tried to catch Speare unprepared and Zumrutel ran from his own half at the Stanley defence before shooting just wide of the right hand post from the edge of the box as the Blues pressed for an equaliser. On 58 minutes Collins grazed the top of the angle between post and bar with a free-kick from the left hand edge of the box. The visitors responded with Wilkinson pushing a 20 yard free-kick by Flitcroft round the post on 65 minutes and James shooting over from 12 yards on 67 minutes and then again from 18 yards on 70 minutes. Then on 73 minutes Wilkinson pulled off a great save to deny James from close range. This proved vital as a minute later the Blues scored the equaliser. Price played the ball into the box from the right, substitute Carl Fothergill helped it on for COLLINS to steer past Speare into the net from close range. The Blues then started to look the team more likely to win until disaster struck on 88 minutes. A free-kick on half way was knocked high into the Blues' box where Matt Wilkinson was beaten in the air with the ball falling to the feet of Paul Mullin who scored from 6 yards. Things got even worse two minutes later when James sent over a cross from the right which Mark Wilkinson ought to have collected but both he and Matt Wilkinson missed it leaving Mullin with a tap-in for Stanley's third.
